Underwater Babies: An Adorable Way A Photographer Raised Awareness Of Drowning Children
Seth Casteel, a photographer based in NY and LA who is a pro at capturing underwater photos of dogs and puppies, and now has switched to an even cuter subject– babies. No babies were hurt while taking these pictures at all. Casteels photo series aims to raise awareness of the fact that unintentional drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children ages 1-4 in the U.S. The babies in Casteel’s photos are part of a program designed to get supervised babies accustomed to the water and to help perfect self-rescue techniques that may help them survive in the event of a real drowning scenario. The babies are taught to hold their breath, kick their feet and turn to float on their backs after being plunged underwater.
